Nearly 60 million Americans experience bouts of acne, and more than 20 million of them end up with acne which may cause scarring. There are many remedies for acne and currently a company created another one, the world’s first chili pepper based face wash that has guaranteed to wipe out acne within a few short days, and without the burning sensation associated with hot peppers.

A great part of remedies work, however, they take weeks and even months to make any noticeable difference. A lot of these products are also mixed with chemicals; they are expensive and generally require a daily regimen.

Capsaicin, the active element in hot peppers has been shown to be an inportant acne fighter. According to experts, it works through a thermal heat action that helps to open pores and increase blood flow to the surface of the skin. Capsaicin has powerful antimicrobial properties that help distinguish harmful bacteria that’s hiding within the layers of skin.

Capsaicin also helps to desensitize sensitive skin by affecting a series of tiny nerves. Capsaicin may also be beneficial for relieving chronic topical pain associated with certain circulatory conditions.

The golden product is called “Capsiderm”. Unlike arthritis creams -designed to relieve chronic muscle and joint pain- this new product is designed specifically to fight acne and tighten wrinkled lines on skin’s surface.

There are immediate results within the first day or two of use. According to the company, most acne conditions will disappear completely within the first week – even severe cases.

The best time to research safe acne medication during pregnancy is before you’re pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant. Obviously, you can’t control the unexpected and planning isn’t always exact. But it helps to be prepared so you can avoid using harmful medications.

Some medications still linger in the body even after prescriptions have ended. This is important for expecting mothers to know since the greatest risk to a baby is during the first month or two. This is the stage when his or her organs are still forming.

Many women are uncertain what acne treatments are pregnancy safe. Make sure you discuss all medications with your doctor before using anything.

Safe Medication During Pregnancy for Acne

Acne medications considered safe for expecting mothers include erythromiycin, clindamycin, azelaic acid, and oral contraceptive pills.

Erythromycin and clindamycin can be used in both topical creams and oral prescriptives. The oral forms of these are antibiotics for severe acne. Since bacteria are able to build resistance to antibiotics, however, erythromycin and clindamycin, though safe, may not be very effective.

Azelaic Acid (Azelex, Finacea, Finevin) is a topical cream for moderate acne with antibacterial properties. There is little risk to the fetus, but there haven’t been any human studies to provide any useful information.

Despite general belief that oral contraceptive pills for acne will harm the baby if continued, there is no evidence showing women to be at a higher risk for defects.

Unsafe Medication During Pregnancy for Acne

Acne medications to avoid during pregnancy include topical and oral retinoids, various antibiotics, and other prescription medicines.

Topical Retinoids like tretinoin and adapalene are derived from Vitamin A and should be avoided during pregnancy. Tretinoin is related to isotretinoin (accutane). There is risk of these ingredients being absorbed into the skin and bloodstream and causing birth defects.

Oral retinoinds like isotretinoin (accutane, roaccutane) are extremely dangerous and should be avoided like the plague during pregnancy. Isotretinoin is commonly used to treat cystic acne. It is banned during pregnancy because it causes malformations to the fetus. Besides a slew of fetal defects, this drug increases the chance of miscarriage and infant death.

If you find out you are pregnant and on this drug, stop taking the drug immediately. If you’re trying to get pregnant, you should stop the drug a month before you start, as recommended by the Organization of Teratology Information Services (OTIS).

Oral Antibiotics

As a general rule of thumb, oral antibiotics are generally not safe medication during pregnancy, with the exception of oral erythromycin.

Both tetracycline (Sumycin, Achromycin V) and Doxycycline and Minocycline are oral antibiotics for acne that are frequently prescribed for acne. However, they should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding because of the risk of interfering with bone growth in fetuses.

Other Prescription Medication

Sodium Sulfacetamide is a topical anti-infective medication used to treat acne and seborrheic skin conditions. If taken orally it can affect the fetus. Topically, it likely won’t harm the fetus, but its risk in pregnancy is unknown.

Every woman experiences huge changes to her body during pregnancy. Hormones go haywire and she never knows what to expect. One of these major changes could be her skin.

While some women experience healthy “glowing” skin, others experience red blotchy patches known as acne. Every woman undergoes unique changes.

If you are you pregnant or are trying to get pregnant, there are a couple things you should know about how your skin will be affected:

1. If you already have acne, your skin could either break out more during pregnancy, or simply clear up (hopefully it does!).

2. If you’ve always had clear skin, you could develop acne.

Both the above situations are quite common. In fact, women are prone to acne during pregnancy because of unstable hormone levels. The following Q&A will tell you what you can do about it. If you find that you are having persistent problems with acne consult with your doctor on safe acne treatment during pregnancy.

Why does acne develop or get worse than before?

First, if you break out, or break out worse than before, it’s because of an increasing level of hormones in your body. Androgenic hormones like progesterone stimulate your oil glands to produce more oil, which leads to more acne. Secondly, there are changes in hydration in your body. If you don’t drink enough water, the hormone secretions won’t get diluted and won’t pass through the body as quickly.

When does acne typically develop?

Usually during the first three months (first trimester) when hormone levels are fluctuating. However, it is possible to experience breakouts at any time during pregnancy, or after pregnancy.

Will my acne go away?

As your pregnancy progresses, your acne typically improves, possibly because of higher levels of estrogen. After the first trimester, progesterone is produced by the placenta instead of the ovaries. For some women, their skin can return to normal a couple months after they give birth. For others, however, the breakouts can return after they’ve had their baby because of a sudden decline the production of estrogen. Sometimes their acne will disappear after a few months, and in other cases, it may not. Everyone is different.

What type of acne will I get?

Typically, women develop cysts, pustules and blackheads. Body acne can also develop.

Will my baby develop acne if I get acne during pregnancy?

No. There is no correlation between developing acne during pregnancy and your infant having baby acne. Neither is there a correlation between pregnancy acne and children developing acne at later stages in life.

Is there any way I can prevent acne during pregnancy?

No. You can’t predict it and you can’t prevent it. In most cases, the skin clears up after the first trimester, or after giving birth. In the meantime, there are things you can do to take care of your skin safely.

When should I seek treatment help?

You should seek a dermatologist’s help before you consider buying any acne treatment, since your acne at this time due to hormonal changes. Although you might be desperate about your skin condition, be extra careful at this time about any creams, medications, or treatments. Herbal remedies, although often promoted as natural treatments, may contain ingredients that could affect you. Even over the counter pimple treatments are drugs that should be discussed with your doctor first.

How can I care for my skin without using medicated treatments?

Here is a list of things you can do to minimize acne flare-ups without causing harm to your baby, and maintain your health:

-Exercise daily to increase blood circulation to your whole body.

-Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies.

-Drink lots of water keep your skin hydrated, and to expel hormone secretions.

-Don’t over-wash, this can stimulate more oil.

-Don’t touch your pimples.

-Use disposable sponges or cotton balls for toners or makeup.

These are some basic tips on how to deal with acne during pregnancy. For more tips and information on this topic, please visit www.your-best-acne-treatment.com

The asthma drug Zyflo fails to help patients with severe acne, according to a mid-stage trial carried out by the company Critical Therapeutics Inc. The drug, also known as zileuton, was neither better at controlling the number of inflammatory lesions than placebos under the company statistics.

Over the 12-week trial, patients treated with Zyflo had an average reduction of 11.5 inflammatory lesions. That compared with a reduction of 9.1 lesions in a group of other patients taking placebos – far short of achieving statistical significance.

Patients treated with placebo showed a reduction of 16.4 lesions in the placebo group, but patients treated with Zyflo showed a mean reduction in the total number of lesions of 25.3.

The company stated the medicine showed a trend of potential benefit to some patients although the drug failed the primary goal of the trial.

Linda Lennox, the company spokeswoman, told the company will probably conduct a larger trial testing the medicine as an acne treatment, using information gleaned from the small recent "proof of concept" trial.

The company based in Lexington, Massachusetts, said that it is continuing to analyze the data and is working with the investigators to further interpret the results.

Zyflo blocks an inflammation-causing enzyme called 5 lipoxygenase (5-LO). It was approved by U.S. regulators in 1996 for treating asthma patients 12 years of age and older. At the time, the drug was owned by Abbott Laboratories Inc., which sold it for a number of years before licensing it to Critical Therapeutics in late 2003.

There are two main groups of hormones that are neccessary to balance if you want to effectively treat and cure your acne.

The first type of hormones, androgens, are responsible for the regulation of sebum (skin oil). Your body creates acne when you have too much sebum mixed with other elements such as toxins in the blood and dead skin cells that clog up the skins pores.

Bacteria breeds in the blocked pores which create redness, inflammation and swelling which is your acne.

Prostaglandins are hormone-like substances which are produces in cells as chemical messengers. Prostaglandins are the important hormones that are responsible for inflammatory and anti-inflammatory responses in the cells otherwise known as ‘good’ and ‘bad’ prostaglandins.

So the question is, how does someone regulate prostaglandins hormones in the body?

Most people lack the nutrients the body needs to produce enough ‘good’ prostaglandins while on the other hand produce too many of the ‘bad’ type which is why acne sufferers more often than not have inflammed, red and sore spots on their faces that take longer than normal to reduce.

ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) which is an Omega 3 essential fatty acid is the precursor to ‘good’ prostaglandins. Most americans are simply deficient in Omega 3 efa’s.

Most animal products and household oils have very high amounts of Omega 6 efa’s but very little if any Omega 3. Omega 6 is the building block for ‘bad’ prostaglandins.

Two of the best sources of Omega 3 acids are in fish oil and flax seed oil. Flax seed oil is great because it has a 2-1 ratio of Omega 3 which is good to counter the inbalance of these EFA’s people have had most of their lives.

It would be a good idea to take enzymes with these oils to make sure they are broken down and utilized properly. Considering most americans also have an enzyme deficiency it would be a wise decision.

Alternatively, you may want to take flax/fish oil capsules with fruits that are high in enzymes such as bananas, papaya, pineapple, figs and kiwi fruit.

One of the biggest theifs of prostaglandins is stress. Smoking and other things that create free radicals, attack the chemicals that are used in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins.

Two of the biggest obstacles you will need to overcome when trying to cure your acne is removing toxins from your blood and decreasing your bodies water retention.

Both of these can be achieved with juicing.

You get acne when your pores get blocked. Bacterial, oil, dead skin cells and toxins get trapped inside the blocked pores which cause an inflammatory response which gives you red, raised acne.

Excess toxins in the body and water retention both can cause your pores to be clogged up. One of the safest, natural and most effective ways to deal with these problems are with fresh fruit and vegetable juices.

Juicing is extracting the vital vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes of fruit and vegetables and discarding the fibre. By removing fibre, the juice is able to be quickly absorbed into the body and be put to maximum use in the body.

When you eat whole fruit and vegetables, it can take up to several hours of digestion before beneficial nutrients enter the bloodstream. Alot of the enzymes and other nutrients are also used up or destroyed by digestion. Juicing maximises nutrient uptake and maximises the health effect.

The first juices we will take a look at are juices that are good for cleaning the body, blood and lymph of toxins. Large amounts of toxins in the body is known as toxemia. Toxemia is poisoning of the body by over retention of body waste or from the the by-products of metabolism or digestion.

The main vegetable juice many consider the "master juice" that can be used as a base for any combination of vegetable juices is carrot juice. It should be noted at this point that vegetable and fruit juices should not be mixed and should be taken a minimum of an hour apart.

Carrot juice is an excellent blood cleanser and helps to clear and beautify the skin. Being an alkalizer, it helps to clear acidic conditions in the body. One of the toxic conditions that cause acne is known as acidosis. Acidosis is simply, an excess of acid in the body tissue and in the blood. One of the symptoms of acidosis is when the body tries to eliminate impurities through the skin which we saw earlier, was a cause of acne.

Cucumber juice is known as a natural diuretic. It also assists carrot juice in expulsing of toxins, salt, and excess water. When your water tension is released, the pressure on the skin cells is also released which was causing pressure on your pores and making them close up.

Together, carrot and cucumber juice mixed and drunk several times a day are an excellent weapon against acne.

"The cure is in the cause" - Ruza Bogdanovich

After a cause of acne has been established, a cure is possible if that cause can be eliminated.

That cause has now been discovered. It isn’t bacteria which was one of the main theories. Although acne is a pefect environment for bacteria, it wasn’t the initial cause.

Anyone with or who has had acne can tell you, including myself, how many times a day they’ve cleaned their faces with anti-bacterial facial wash and still faced new pimples the next day.

The same goes for all the other topical creams for acne available which kill germs and open up blocked pores. These may provide temporary relief, but you will never experience acne free skin by only focusing on acne from the outside.

The real, and true causes of acne are hormone imbalance, water retention and toxins.

In this article I will cover hormone imbalance.

Hormones are chemicals that are produced by glands in the body and circulate in the bloodstream that control numerous body functions including sebum (skin oil) production and regulation.

The hormones that are responsible for acne are called androgens. These androgens stimulate the sebaceous glands (glands in the skin that secrete oil to the surface of the skin.)

When you have too many androgens in the blood, your sebaceous glands begin to over-produce oil in the skin. It is not only oil that will cause acne but It’s the initial problem you want to resolve.

The next part of the problem is toxins in the blood and lymph. When your liver and kidneys are not properly cleansing the blood and are overloaded, the liver is unable to properly ‘deactivate’ used hormones and remove them from the body.

The combination of oil, bacteria and toxins blocks pores. Inside the blocked pores also are bacteria which grow in a low-oxygen environment. This bacteria aggrevates the skin and causes an inflammatory disease, otherwise known as acne.

Hormone imbalance doesn’t only cause acne, but can be responsible for many other problems including: allergies, fatigue, headaches, mood swings, anger and insomnia.

For most teenagers, hormone imbalance occurs during puberty when the body is busy producing hormones for growth, maturity and reproduction.

Adult acne predominately arises from the inability of the liver and kidneys to effectively eliminate excess hormones and toxins from the blood.

In order to cure your acne you have to be able to get your hormones into balance by feeding your body the key nutrients that aid hormone regulation in the glands and also strengthen the liver which is the other hormone regulatory system.

Both of these are possible and pave the way for clear, smooth skin without zits, blackheads or whiteheads.

"Fasting is the greatest remedy–the physician within!"–Philippus Paracelsus

Fasting is a great way to detox your body quickly. Fasting is when you do not eat any type of solid food for any number of days. Liquids like water, fruit and vegetable juices and herbal teas are excellent and recommended to have during fasting and they can help speed up the cleasing and detoxifying process.

When you eat, a lot of the bodies energy and resources are used up for digestion. Most people eat throughout the day leaving little if any rest for your digestive system. A lot of the bodies enzymes are required to digest the foods that we eat, especially if the food is mostly processed and void of any nutritional value.

When you give your digestive system a well needed rest, enzymes that would normally be used for digestion can then be used for other purposes in the body such as the breaking down and proper elimination of waste material.

Considering that toxic matter in the body being excreted through the skin is one of the main causes of acne, a regular fasting detox could prove extremely beneficial. Research has suggested that there is between 5-to-10 lbs. of toxic chemicals locked into the average adults body.

Fasting with fruit and vegetable juices is considered the safest way to fast as it provides the body with it’s dietary nutritional requirements and are also of great benefit for people suffering from acne.

One of the best juices to take several times a day on a fast is carrot juice. Carrot juice is an excellent blood cleanser and helps to clear and beautify the skin. It reverses the condition of acidosis which is an excess of acid in the body tissues and is one type of toxicity.

Another good juice that can be mixed with carrot juice is spinach. Spinach juice is one of the best for cleaning out the intestinal tract of toxic waste. Spinach juice taken on it’s own has a rather strong flavour which is why it is usually mixed with other vegetables such as carrots.

Together, carrot and spinach juice help to cleanse out the entire system and also help the livers ability to rid the body of toxins.

It has been stated that you may take as much vegetable juice as you wish. It is considered a food but without needing the arduous task of digestion. As a general guideline, 2-4 glasses a day would be a safe and effective way to fast.

It is a good idea to seek a doctors approval before fasting as it shouldn’t be attempted by certain people, especially pregnant or nursing woman and people on certain medications or medical complications.

Daily exercise can be extremely beneficial to your overall skin health and can also help clear it of acne too.

Regular exercise increases the flow of blood and oxygen to the skin cells. When you sweat, your body expells toxins through the skin with ease from the opened pores. Sweating effectively cleans the pores from dirt, dead skin cells and excess sebum.

When you exercise, your kidneys and liver work more effectively in removing toxins from the body. Stress is also reduced from exercise and both of these are known causes of acne.

It is a good idea after exercising to take a shower. This washes away the sweat and any other waste material ejected from the body. It also prevents the growth of bacteria which is attracted to sweat.

After exercise be sure to drink plenty of water. Water is essential for ridding the body of toxins and to replace all the water lost from sweating. Acne has been shown to occur in people who aren’t drinking enough water.

Almost all exercises are great and the more you sweat the better. Walking, jogging, cycling, swimming and team sports are all suitable. If you can, try to exercise outdoors in the fresh air and sunshine.

Swimming is excellent due to being in water which helps to fully cleanse the pores. It is important to rinse yourself after swimming to clean off the chlorine on your body which can leave your skin really dry.

One of the best exercises for acne is using a mini-trampoline. Jumping on a mini-tramp is beneficial for your lymphatic system. Your lymph is controlled by movement and operates best when exercising.

The lymph provides the cells with the nutrients it needs and is also responsible for removing and eliminating cell waste and toxins. If the lymph is insufficienty activated, the cells swim in their own waste which can block pores and when bacteria starts to grow in blocked pores it causes acne.

It has been reported that rebounding can increase the flow of your lymph by up to 30 times. It has also been stated that rebounding is possibly the best exercise ever invented because it has so many benefits.

Not only does exercise benefit the skin, it also has emotional and mental benefits. It is good for stress relief as stated earlier but also good for keeping the mind focused and active. Apart from exercise, proper sleep and relaxation are also good for reducing stress.
